A fully funded PhD student position, in the area of program optimization and code generation techniques for many-core architectures, is available at the Department of Computer and Information Science of Linköping University, Sweden.

Applications must be received by 8 september 2010.

Some background in compiler technology, parallel computing, combinatorial optimization, design and analysis of algorithms, computer architecture, and C/C++, is desirable.
Admission to our PhD program requires a university degree as Master or equivalent degree in a Computer Science-related subject.
The applicant shall have a strong mathematical/theoretical background, good grades, good programming skills, and good abilities in written and oral communication in English.
The applicant is expected to possess an ability to work independently, and have an interest in teaching.

Starting date: By agreement, but preferably as soon as possible.

Working environment: My research group is part of the Programming Environments lab, which belongs to the department of Computer and Information Science of Linköping University.
Our main research area is in program analysis, optimization, software composition, parallelization and code generation for parallel systems, in particular for homogeneous, heterogeneous and hybrid many-core systems but also for SIMD / instruction-level parallel and embedded architectures.
The group participates in several national and international research projects, including the EU FP7 ICT project PEPPHER.
