The Software for Systems on Silicon (SSS) group at the Institute for Integrated Signal Processing Systems (ISS) of RWTH Aachen University has an opening starting on Jan 1, 2010 (or later) for a
Research Assistant/Ph.D. Candidate
The SSS division performs research and development on electronic design automation tools for embedded systems, e.g. future telecommunication and multimedia systems. Major research areas include multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC) architectures, compilers for embedded processors, and architecture optimization for application specific configurable processors (ASIPs). These activities are performed in close cooperation with the teams of the Institute for Integrated Signal Processing Systems (ISS) as well as numerous international research partners from academia and industry.
Your tasks:
• Contribute to R&D projects from the above areas in close cooperation with our partners
• Assist in teaching (lecture exercises, labs, seminars)
Our requirements:
•Master degree or equivalent in electrical engineering/computer science/computer engineering with excellent results.
•Sound knowledge in C/C++ software tool development. Skills in the areas of processor architectures, electronic design automation, compiler construction, and/or HW architecture simulation are beneficial.
•Excellent communication skills, must be a team player.
•Good proficiency in oral and written English. German is beneficial.

Compensation is based on TV-L 13 (federal salary rate). Contract duration is limited to 2 years first, extension is envisioned to complete a Ph.D. thesis.
