Assistant Professor in Information and Communication Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

Welcome to Information and Communication Technology
– an area of advance for Chalmers and for an ambitious Assistant Professor

What it can do for the world
In information society and as we progress into knowledge society, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) becomes both the highway and the safety-net of humanity. With sustainability in mind, our task is to help make this safety-net as secure, efficient and dependable as possible.

What we’re building on
In the core competencies of ICT alone, we number more than 200 researchers at Chalmers. Our scientific reputation is outstanding and comprises software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, microwaves, antenna systems, photonics, and communication.

In interaction with industry partners we have identified a number of inter-disciplinary and strategic thrust areas. At the Gigahertz Centre, for instance, research on high-frequency technologies ranges from the development of new signal processing concepts to the design of microwave components for next generation mobile communication.

At the centres Chase and Charmant, groups working on simulation models for wireless systems are neighbours with scientists developing multiple-antenna technologies for cancer diagnosis. Beyond microwave technologies and antenna systems, we develop photonic technologies for faster lasers and higher data speed in optical fibre.

The challenge of building and programming multicore systems is addressed in research ranging from computer architecture to distributed systems and programming languages – all in close collaboration with the telecom industry. Improving software quality – at a reduced cost – is a major challenge which we approach by forming inter-disciplinary research teams with experts from the fields of formal methods, robust real-time systems, testing, language-based security and software engineering.

Synergies between research, innovation and education in ICT have already generated more than 700 jobs in companies spun-off from Chalmers.
